Updates and notices
Choose who gets an update
On the Review and send step, you choose the topics and the area. Citizen Loop then finds the residents who match.
Topics
Select Add topic… and pick one or more topics. You can pick up to 20. Residents who follow these topics get the update.
Citizen Loop can suggest topics from your message. The note says "Suggested from the message. Remove any that do not fit." Check each suggestion.
Where it applies
- Citywide. All residents of your city who follow the topics.
- Saved place. Pick an area that your team saved before.
- Draw an area. Mark the area on the map. Read Mark an area on the map.
The summary shows how many residents live in or near the area.
Include everyone in the area
Select Include everyone in the marked area to reach residents who do not follow the topics. Use this when the update affects access to homes or businesses, for example a road closure.
Who receives it
The Who receives it box shows the count in three steps:
- Residents in the city or in the marked area.
- Of those, residents who follow the topics, or everyone in the area.
- Of those, residents you can reach. The note shows how many cannot be reached or want emergency updates only.
The final number of messages can be lower than the estimate. At send time, Citizen Loop also applies each resident's "how often" choice. Read How Citizen Loop decides who gets a message.
Problems
- "Pick at least one topic." Add a topic.
- "Choose where it applies." Pick Citywide, a saved place or an area.
- "No residents would receive this. Change the topics or the area." Make the area larger, add topics or select Include everyone in the marked area.
