Account and security
Set up an authenticator app
An authenticator app gives you confirmation codes on your phone. It is faster than email, and it works when email is slow. You can use 1Password, Google Authenticator or a similar app.
Turn on the app
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar. Then select Security.
- Under How you confirm it's you, find Authenticator app. Select Set up.
- The portal asks you to confirm it's you. Enter the code from your email.
- Scan the QR code with your app. If you cannot scan it, select Can't scan? Enter a key and type the key into your app.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app. Select Turn on.
- Save your backup codes. Select Copy or Download. Then select I saved my codes.
Backup codes
- You get 10 backup codes. Each code works one time.
- We show the codes only one time. Keep them in a safe place.
- Use a backup code if you lose your phone. In the code dialog, select Use a backup code.
- The Security page shows how many codes you have left. The number turns red at 2 or fewer.
Turn off the app
- Open Security.
- Select Turn off next to Authenticator app.
- Confirm. After this, we email you codes instead.
