Mark an area on the map

Use an area when news affects only part of your city. Residents who live in or near the area get the update. Residents never see the name of an area.

On updates, notices and polls, select Draw an area. Then pick a tool.

Road

Use this for road work or a road closure.

  1. Select a block of road. A block is the part of a road between two cross streets.
  2. Select more blocks to add them. Select a selected block to remove it.
  3. Set Distance from the road. It can be 10 to 100 m on each side. The default is 40 m.

Radius

  1. Select the map to place the center.
  2. Drag the edge handle to change the size. It can be 100 to 3,000 m.
  3. Drag the center to move the circle.

Polygon

  1. Select points around the area.
  2. Select the first point, or Finish shape, to close the shape.

Use Undo point or Clear to fix mistakes. A shape needs at least 3 corners, and its lines cannot cross.

See the count

The status line shows about how many residents live in the area.

Save the area for later

If you can send, select Save as a place. Next time, pick it under Saved place.

Road block messages

  • "Road blocks are waiting to be built." or "Building road blocks". Citizen Loop builds the road blocks from your boundary. Wait, or use Radius or Polygon.
  • "The road block build failed." Contact Citizen Loop support.
