Polls

Create a poll

A poll asks residents questions and tells you why they answered the way they did.

  1. Open Polls and select New poll.
  2. Enter a title under "What are you asking residents?"
  3. Write the Context. Explain the decision, the options and what happens with the answers. Use up to 5000 characters.
  4. Add your questions.
  5. Set the Closes date.
  6. Select Continue to review.

The draft saves while you type. The sidebar shows a live Resident preview. You can try it, and nothing is submitted. It also shows about how long the poll takes to answer.

Question types

  • One choice. The resident picks one answer.
  • Pick any. The resident picks one or more answers.
  • 1–5 scale. The resident picks a number from 1 to 5.
  • Written answer. The resident writes text. Written answers are optional for residents.

Limits

  • Up to 20 questions.
  • 2 to 8 choices for each One choice or Pick any question.
  • Questions up to 500 characters. Choices up to 200 characters.

The close date

The poll closes at the end of the close day, in city time. Residents can change their answers until then. Staff can see the results while the poll is open, and after it closes.

Problems that stop a poll

  • "Add context."
  • "Add at least one question."
  • "Question 2 needs text."
  • "Question 2 needs 2 to 8 choices."
  • "Question 2 has a choice with no label."
  • "Set a close date after the send time." or "Set a close date after the … newsletter."
